Consign With DFJ
Parting with jewelry can feel personal,
and it should be handled that way.
I approach each consignment with the same care and consideration I bring to my own collection—thoughtfully evaluating, preparing, and presenting each piece. Consigning your antique and vintage jewelry with me is a thoughtful, considered process—one built on a deep understanding of both the history behind each piece and its place in today’s market.
With years of experience in estate jewelry, I approach every piece with a trained eye for value, rarity, and craftsmanship. From pricing to presentation, each detail is handled with care to ensure your jewelry is positioned exactly as it should be. Through my network of dedicated collectors, private clients, and trusted buyers, your pieces are introduced to an audience that truly understands and appreciates them. It’s a process rooted in trust, transparency, and respect for the piece itself.
I oversee every aspect of the process—from photography and storytelling to marketing, client communication, and secure transactions—so that the experience feels seamless and effortless on your end.
Consignment is, by nature, a more patient process than an immediate sale, and it involves a commission upon completion. However, it often allows a piece to reach its full potential—both in value and in placement—ensuring it finds its way to the right collector while being represented with the knowledge, discretion, and integrity it deserves.
Consignment FAQs
What types of jewelry do you accept on consignment?
I specialize in antique and vintage estate jewelry, fine pieces featuring diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals, as well as select contemporary pieces of exceptional quality. Each piece is reviewed individually to ensure it aligns with my collection and clientele. If you’re unsure whether your item is a fit, I’m happy to review it with you.
How does the consignment process work?
Once your piece is approved, we agree on pricing and terms together. I then professionally photograph, market, and present your jewelry to my network of collectors and buyers. You’ll be kept informed throughout the process.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is based on a combination of factors, including craftsmanship, materials, condition, provenance, and current market trends. My goal is to position your piece competitively while maximizing its value.
How long does consignment typically take?
Timing can vary depending on the piece, market demand, and pricing. Some pieces are placed quickly, while others may take more time to find the right buyer. Because I focus on achieving the best possible price, patience often leads to stronger results. I’ll always keep you informed throughout the process.
What is your commission structure?
Commission is taken as a percentage of the final sale price. This will be discussed transparently during the initial consultation so you feel fully comfortable before moving forward.
How will I be updated during the process?
I believe in clear and open communication. Transparency is important during the consignment process. I’ll keep you informed of any interest, inquiries, and/or any offers received, while also being respectful of your time.
Can I take my item back if it doesn’t sell?
Absolutely. You may request the return of your piece at any time, subject to the terms outlined in our consignment agreement.
Is my jewelry insured while in your care?
Yes, your pieces are handled with the utmost care and are protected while in my possession. I’m happy to provide details on coverage for your peace of mind.
Do you offer outright purchasing as well?
In some cases, yes. If you’re interested in a more immediate sale, I’m happy to discuss whether purchasing is an option for your piece. Consignment typically yields a higher return than immediate buyouts because your piece is marketed to the right audience over a period of time that allows us to capture their full market value. While it may take longer and involves a commission, it allows your jewelry to achieve its full value. We can discuss both options at your initial consultation.
If you’re considering consigning a piece, I would be honored to work with you. Every item entrusted to me is handled with the utmost care and intention—from the first conversation to its final placement.
